Thinking Out Loud
WITH LAUREN

Who Am I?
Hello, I’m Lauren, a qualified counsellor based in Hampshire, currently offering online and in person sessions.
After a successful career in Project Management, I decided to follow my heart and retrain as a therapist - and I haven’t looked back since. I now run my own Private Practice part-time, alongside my work as a Children and Young Person's counsellor in local schools. My volunteer commitments over the past year have also included a significant number of hours for a bereavement charity. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society, and have a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

Why choose me?

I have a genuine interest in people's stories, and I feel privileged to support people through their challenges, believing that everyone’s journey is unique. I am easy to talk to, and I take a warm, down-to-earth, and flexible approach, tailoring therapy to suit each person’s needs - because there’s no one-size-fits-all in counselling.

I have been trained as a pluralistic (or integrative) counsellor, which, in simple words, means I can shape our sessions in a way that works best for you, drawing from a range of therapeutic methods. This includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt, and Psychodynamic approaches. Over the years, I have gained skills and dealt with the following areas to name a few specifics; Working with Children and Young People, Anger, Anxiety, Addiction, Bereavement and Loss, Depression, Low Self Esteem, Mental Health, Relationships, Stress and Trauma.

While I support clients across a wide range of areas and age groups, I have a particular interest in working with children, young people, and their families. I find it incredibly rewarding to help younger clients navigate challenges like emotions, identity, friendships, school pressure, and family dynamics. I also offer a space for parents and carers to reflect, explore concerns, and strengthen communication within the family system.

Outside of work, I am married with a young daughter, and I understand first-hand how demanding and busy life can be, often a finely balanced juggling act, and I like to think I bring this real-world perspective into my work.
I know from my own experience with counselling that is it very hard taking the first few steps - Your brain suddenly has a hundred reasons to put it off! But once you’re there, something shifts. Trust me!!
